We can't believe that this is the fifth Library OnConference! We've grown from 75 attendees to over 300 participants from nearly 40 countries around the world. AMAZING!
For our grand finale, we are dropping the mic on all things transformational and inspirational branding. Our keynote speaker, Amber Lilyestrom, will share her business and marketing magic so that we can learn how libraries can build memorable brands that connect with our communities and the world. As an business owner, she will also give a glimpse of what entrepreneurs really need and where libraries can step in. Best of all...this conference is FREE! Thanks to RAILS for their generous support to make this conference happen. #MicDrop2018 Meet Amber Lilyestrom, the keynote speaker

If you've participated in the past, there will be some changes to how we operate this year. Because we are super grateful for the generous funding from RAILS (Reaching Across Illinois Library System), we want to make this conference even more accessible to as many people as possible. That means that there will be no registration and no mandatory small group hangout sessions. Additionally, the conference is going to last ALL DAY so if you have an important meeting or are on the reference desk, there will be plenty of other opportunities for you to get involved and engaged. This is how it works: We've got an amazing keynote speaker and 5 awesome presenters. Our keynote speaker will kick off the day with a presentation and an optional small group hangout session for those who want to ask some questions or get some more info. After that, the 5 presenters will be speaking throughout the day with optional small group hangout sessions. Can't watch any of them on Thursday, April 14th? No worries! They will all be archived and accessible later. This year is all about taking your career to the next level. We'll be talking about how to negotiate your salary, brand yourself, find your path, and not be afraid of risks and challenges. You definitely will want to stay tuned! In the meantime, sign up for our e-newsletter for regular updates! We wanted to share what we learned with you below:
RUSA (Reference & User Services Association): Creating Virtual Connections in Your Community. We are excited for this opportunity to speak about where we got started, and connect with librarians from across the country. As part of our preparation, we researched several libraries, non-profits and schools who use Google Hangouts to make a difference. It was interesting to see how many more people are using Google Hangouts now than when we started liboncon 2 years ago. We'd like to give shoutouts to: New York Public Library Connected Learning Connected Classrooms
It's hard to believe that we're already one month into 2016 and that we're planning our third annual Library OnConference! We've been truly amazed at the amount of support that we've received from the library community about this initiative. We've received messages from all over the country and even from libraries in Europe that have been inspired and want to implement similar practices.
As we are preparing our keynote speaker, Library OnConference team, and organizing the conference day, we are so excited to announce that we have receive a generous grant from RAILS (Reaching Across Illinois Library System) to support our third conference. Previously, we have operated on zero dollars, so their contributions to this networking platform is immensely appreciated. It allows us to continue to deliver quality information at no cost to librarians from all over. So we want to give a huge thank you to RAILS for their support of this field and those who work in it!
Stay in touch with us as we get prepared for the third annual conference!
We can't believe it's been six months since our last Library OnConference, mainly because we've been very busy in writing, speaking, and planning a new experience just for you in 2016. There has been a steady ripple affect of the work we've done, and it's incredible how many people in the library profession have embraced our new concept.
In June, we were invited by the magnificent Leah White to be interviewed for Circulating Ideas. This was an incredible experience, and we were so happy to have been asked! If you're wondering how we developed the model for our conference, or just wanted to know more about us, have a listen! We're also excited because today, we'll be speaking to potentially 4000+ people online at The Digital Shift. If you've never attended this free conference, you should sign up today or listen to the recordings afterward. Most importantly, thank you for visiting! Until we unveil new OnCon information, watch our YouTube channel and catch up on the keynote speakers and meet our past moderators. ![]() The Library OnConference is TOMORROW and we are PUMPED. Why?
