Each presenter will speak for 30 minutes followed by an optional small group hangout session for Q&A and more in-depth discussion.

Michael is the Digital Services Manager at the Barrington Area Library where he oversees a makerspace, digital studios, game rooms, databases and the eContent collections. He graduated with his Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in 2010. His favorite thing about his job is seeing the light bulb go off in a patron’s imagination when he realizes what he can achieve at the library. Michael has presented at ALA, ILA, ILEADU, & PLA, promoting technology programs for children.
Outside of the profession, Michael’s favorite things are skateboarding through an empty city on a sunny Saturday morning, street art, making a mess of his apartment with DIY and art projects, and photography.

Emily Vinci is an Adult Fiction Librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library where she co-founded NextGen, a social group for people in their 20s and 30s. She has presented many times about building great programs for patrons in their 20s and 30s and co-authored the book A Year of Programs for Millennials and More (ALA Editions, 2015). A native of Iowa, she received her Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois in 2012. She serves on the Steering Committee for the Adult Reading Round Table and is passionate about expanding library appreciation and knowledge of comics and graphic novels. As a self-described pop culture fiend, she is always looking for new ways to incorporate popular culture into the public library. Lauren Rosenthal is Assistant Director for Support Services with the Fox River Valley Libraries. Throughout her career she’s interviewed more than 200 candidates and hired 50 including two Library Directors. She holds an MLIS from Dominican, and writes and speaks often on the topic of salary negotiation.

Jennifer Drinka is the Head of Youth Services at the Crystal Lake Public Library where she manages a talented team of 19 staff. Jennifer was recently named the February 2016 CCStar by Christopher Holly, Executive Director of CCS (Cooperative Computer Services), a consortium of 24 public libraries in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago, who stated that, “Her energy just lights up a room, and it’s always fun to chat and share ideas with her.” Jennifer has devoted the past seventeen years (half of her life!) to inspiring communities and making lasting connections at a broad swath of libraries (Antioch, Columbia College, Fox River Grove, Ela, Baraboo, Barrington, Warren-Newport and Crystal Lake). In addition to libraries, Jennifer is passionate about poetry and her companion parrot Kiki. She is excited to share the insights she has gleaned on her miraculous library journey, and to encourage you to dream big, trust your gut and to smile in the face of change.
